You’ve heard it before:  “When the going gets tough, the tough get going.”  In other words, the most successful people find a way to work through challenges.  In fact, they excel when facing difficult circumstances.

You might not feel like you’re ready to “get going” when situations become difficult.  Don’t worry, that’s not unusual.  Many people feel that way.  Not everyone is automatically prepared to kick into high gear in the face of adversity.

The good news is that you can learn how to be part of the “tough” crowd.

It starts with the right mindset.  When you’re convinced that you’re capable of reaching your goal—that you’re meant to succeed—it becomes a lot easier to motivate yourself to handle a rough patch.

It also involves having powerful motivations.  You can face up to challenges much more effectively when you have a reason to do so.  When you know that you’re working toward a wonderful life, guided by irresistible goals, nothing will slow you down.

You’ll also need the right skills.  Having a positive attitude and a strong motivation are wonderful, but they must be accompanied by a strong plan that has involved developing the skills necessary to reach your objectives.

Finally, you’ll need to persevere.  When the tough get going, they do so without a guarantee that things will be easy.  Sometimes difficult periods require more than one effort and an unwillingness to settle for less than what you deserve—regardless of how much effort you must expend to get it.

When the going gets tough, you can get going.  With the right mindset, motivation, skills and diligence you can beat whatever challenges you may encounter as you move toward your goals.
