Setting Goals
Ben Franklin set aside time every day to review two questions. In the morning he asked himself, ” What good shall I do today? “In the evening he asked, “What good have I done today?”
The greatest achievers in life are people who set goals for themselves and then work hard to reach them.
What they get by reaching the goals is not nearly as important as what they become by reaching them.
Do you want to set goals for yourself? If so, use the following guidelines:
Make the goals attainable: Start with low fences, easily achieved goals, and work your way up.
Make the goals measurable: You will never know when you have achieved a goal if you are not measuring them. Measure your goals and it will give you a sense of accomplishment when you attain them.
Clearly state the goals: When goals have no clear focus, you will have a hard time trying to achieve them. Take clear, focused actions!
Put the goals in writing: When you write your goals down, it makes you more accountable.
It is important to encourage your potential self to review your goals and your progress daily.
Leading From Within: Help yourself today by setting clear and focused goals.

What If?
Have you ever questioned the way a business does something? Only to be told, I have always been doing it this way, you are in good company.
To me that is scary.
Doing without thinking or accepting without questioning, is extremely limiting.
In order to be a true leader you have to move beyond what is already acceptable convention. Instead, you must entertain radical thinking. You must ask, ” What if”. Without questioning the existing rules there is no hope for innovation.
Entertaining the “What if” way of thinking requires you to gain knowledge of the boundaries that exist and to develop your rational ability to analyze and pursue a new way of thinking.
To live a life of following wisdom is to follow predetermined rules and work that are set in boundaries. Are you willing to break the status quo?
It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it- Aristotle
Lead From Within: For most we rely on conventional methodology, a true leader thinks of new ways to view everything.

Hunches Lead The Way
Trust yourself. You know more than you think you do. -Benjamin Spock
Dreamers, Visionaries and Idealist all have one thing in common. They identify something in the world they want to change, and they listen to their inner voice to find a way to do it.
Your unconscious mind is an untapped reservoir that is full of information. You get to experience how powerful it is when you tap into your hunches. Trust those hunches, because they’re usually are the answers to the questions that you have posed to your inner voice. Do not dismiss your hunches as crazy ideas. Instead, ponder on them, look at them from all angles and be open to new possibilities.
Your inner voice can be active day and night. You cannot consciously control it, but you can nudge it to the right direction. By planting words, concepts, ideas, or feelings into your internal thoughts, you will be able to access your subconscious and apply them to the real world.
Stop trying to work everything out with your minds. It will get you nowhere. Live by intuitions, hunches and inspiration and let your inner voice do the leading.
Lead From Within: Allow your creative hunches to lead the path.
Call To Action: Listen carefully to the messages and then act upon them.
Why Not
Of all the ideas and dreams we conceive, how many of them do we carry to term? Nine, or maybe ten, times out of ten we cancel out our inspiration with all the reasons they won’t work in reality.
What would happen if we would dispense with the excuses that abort the creative process and replace them with a one simple question: Why not?
Then nine, or maybe ten, times out of ten we will find that nothing is really keeping us from at least exploring our dreams and desires.
Then we can realistically assess which ones are not possible but appropriate for us to pursue.
Lead From Within: Every success begins with “WHY NOT?”
Something to think About: What would you like to do that you can’t? What are your reasons for not being able to realize your desires?
Try to differentiate between reasons and excuses- objections that seem realistic, and objections that may be coming from fear of rejection or failure or success.
Call To Action: Take a realistic attitude toward your ideas and do not be afraid to explore the ones that ignite the spirit of creativity within you.
More Than Meets The Eye
There are always two realities: The one outside of us and the one inside.
And so, in order not to make too many invalid assumptions, we must constantly remember there is always far more than meets the eye.
Our world extends far beyond our limited perceptions, there will always be an idea, person, situation that we have not met yet.
Lead From Within: Accept the fact that your perceptions are just your perceptions, and leave room for other conclusions.
Something to Think About: How often do you divide the world into absolutes of right and wrong? Do you feel you know all there is to know about a particular subject?
Call To Action: Begin to open your mind to the possibility that you neither see or know everything there is to see and know, and note how you view of the world changes correspondingly.
Waiting
How difficult it is sometimes to wait for life to unfold, to restrain ourselves from trying to hurry it along or make things happen before its time.
In our eagerness for results, however, we forget that waiting is as important as part of life as doing.
There is a purpose for waiting, as Richard Wilhelm, observes in his translation of the I Ching, the book of Changes,. “Waiting is not the mere empty hoping. It has the inner certainty of reaching the goal.”
The period of waiting is a valuable time, during which we can strengthen our inner resources.
If there is nothing we can do about a situation except wait, we can use that opportunity to relax, research, and reflect- all highly useful activities that invariably lead the direction of clarity.
Lead From Within: Like any opportunity, waiting can be used to your advantage
Call To Action: If you are currently in a position of waiting, how can you use the time productively?
Forgive Yourself
Because we are afraid to fail we often build a negative case against ourselves. We can become so discouraged that we lose our energy. Negativity seems to breed more negativity, and before long we stop worrying about failing because we have stopped trying to reach our goals. Then we stay in the safe middle ground. We are not afraid, but we always wonder what would have happened.
It is never to late to change negative thinking and forgive ourselves for our failures. We can start by looking for the good in ourselves. We can FOCUS on loving acts and thoughts and work through the ones that hurt us.
Lead From Within: You are the master of your life and while you cannot control all of the events in your life you can control your reaction to these events. So instead of dwelling on what you haven’t achieved, give yourself credit for what you have done and have been able to.
Call To Action: I suggest you grab a notepad and pen – then sit down and write all the good things that are going on in your life right now. List all the good things that you have. List all your positive qualities – things that you like about yourself. Then everyday – spend at least 20 minutes thinking about those things – and after a few weeks you’ll start to see things differently.
Self Discipline
Self Discipline-(noun)
the disciplining or controlling of oneself or one’s desires, actions, habits.
Just the idea of self discipline is exhausting for many of us, because we immediately relate it to work and difficulty.
We often set ourselves up for failure when we set out to practice a discipline that simply does not fit comfortably into our daily schedule.
No one likes to fail, so we associate discipline with disappointment.
It is time to change our view of self discipline and use it to our best advantage.
Self Discipline is not punishment, it is simply a means of training that produces a skill.
Using self discipline is gaining a skill of working less and enjoying life more. It is the key to self mastery and achievement of your dreams.
Lead From Within: Life is not something that happens to you, but you are something that happens to life.
Decide NOW to take responsibility for your life by mastering self discipline.
Something To Think About: Think of ways you could discipline yourself – train yourself to be skilled at – doing less in your life. Think of meaningless activities you could either drop or do with more enjoyment.

A Minute For You
We would like to slow down and become quieter but our restlessness will not allow it.
Our lives seem filled with movement and frantic activity without end, as if this were our sole route to happiness as human beings.
At the same time, we know we need harmony and peace and tranquility, order and meaning as we go through life.
When we find yourself too active, sometimes we feel we may be deceiving ourselves, by the sheer thought of taking a minute for ourselves, or having a calmer existence seems contrary to our way of being and so we resist it.
But claiming silence can reacquaint us with our wiser selves, which resides within us, drowning out the external noise.
The choice is ours. Choosing to live with our hearts in the minutes and hours of today is the finest gift of freedom that we can give ourselves.
Lead From Within: Honestly examine the advantage of living your life with a minute for yourself. Come to terms with your needs, desires and wants. Take a minute for you.
